This April, we bring two concerts into the Indian community to enable.

SUFIYANA: encompasses an eclectic repertoire of classical and semi-classical songs such as Sufi music, Ghazals, and Bhajans from diverse composers such as Meerabai, Tulsidas, and Nizammudin Walia. The three outstanding musicians, Janab Arshad Ali Khan (vocal, Kirana Gharana), Vidushi Sahana Bannerjee (sitar, Rampur-Senia Gharana), and Pandit Subhen Chatterjee (tabla, Lucknow Gharana; Grammy nominee), will come together for this special concert.

KABIR POETRY: Prahlad Singh Tipaniya (recipient of the Padma Shri award) and his ensemble present the timeless poetry of the fifteenth-century poet Kabir in a vigorous, joyous, and folksy style that has enthralled worldwide audiences. Prof. Linda Hess (Stanford University, author of “Bodies Of Song: Kabir Oral Traditions and Performative Worlds in North India”) will share her scholarly insights. The concert will be at 7 pm on Wednesday, April 10, in the NSPA Studio. The Tipaniya Ensemble will also perform at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, on April 11 at 7:30 pm.
