COMPETITION TIMELINE/OTHER DEADLINES
The Deadline for submission of application: January 31st, 2023. Entry fee: INR 200 for residents of South Asia, and USD 20 for candidates from US and other countries.
1) PRELIMINARY ROUND: The PreliminaryScreening will be done by February 10th, 2023. A committee of experts will review the applications, verify the documents, and decide upon the criteria set forth. The decisions will be notified to all applicants by February 15th, 2023; selected candidates for the Semi-finals will be requested to submit videos of performances.
The Deadline for submission of videos for the Semi-final: February 28th, 2023.
2) SEMI-FINAL: The Semi-final level of the competition will be conducted based on the submitted videos by a panel of experts in each subject between March 1st and 15th, 2023. The decisions will be conveyed to all candidates on or before March 20th, 2023. Selected candidates for the finals will be informed with specific details of dates, times, and the mode.
3) FINAL: The Final level of the competition will be held between April 1st and 15th, 2023. It will be conducted online through zoom, Google Meet or Skype.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDS: April 20th, 2023
Subjects: Hindustani Vocal - Dhrupad and Khayal Semi-Classical Vocal - Thumri, Dadra, and Ghazal Regional Vocal - Songs in Indian regional languages Instrumental - North Indian classical instruments, such as Sitar, Sarod, Violin, Sarangi, Bansuri, Sehnai, etc.; Percussion - North Indian classical percussion out of Tabla, Pakhawaz, Sri Khol and Mardala;
Levels: The competition will be held in three levels based on duration of learning experience. Level 1: up to 3 years, Level 2: 3 to 6 years, and Level 3: 7 to 10 years.
Chhandayan is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Indian music, dance and culture. With it's headquarters in the heart of New York city, its branches are spread over several states of the USA, Canada and India.
